Hannover, the capital of Lower Saxony, was once the capital of the Kingdom of Hannover. Today it is known for many fairs that take place here regularly. Worth seeing are the old town hall and the new town hall, and the area around the Maschsee, an artificial lake in the midst of the city. The Herrenhäuser Gardens are among the most important baroque gardens in Europe. They invite you to walk and are a popular place to get married.
